Richmond Half Marathon

Since June of this year my dad and I have been planning to run the Richmond full and half marathon. (My dad ran the full, I ran the half). As you can tell from the pictures it was cold to start. So Thurs we picked mom and dad up from the airport. Then Fri after Dan worked a half day (he was taking a class for work and it was the last day so he had to) we headed to Richmond. Got in later than we wanted (because of traffic) but then headed to the expo and got our packets and looked around for a bit. Then to the hotel. Connor had a pretty hard time so he slept in our King sized bed with us and thankfully Dan took care of him so I could get some sleep, but unfortunately there were some teenage girls running up and down the halls til about 10:30pm so I didn't get near as much as I wanted to. We woke up at 5:30 to get ready to go and were out the door by 6:15. After traffic and walking We got to the start by about 7:25. I said my goodbyes and waited for a few minutes before my wave took off at 7:42am. The first few miles were a piece of cake. I had a group of ladies I was determined to beat and lost them about mile 4. My 10K (6.2 miles) time was 1 hour and I was feeling so good and thinking "Yes if I can do the next half of the race in an hour I will have finished the half in 2 hours which would beat my previous time by 15 min" I could have handled that since I wanted to run it in 2 hours and 15 minutes. Well miles 8-10 were my worst nightmares. I hit my wall and kept thinking there was no way I could do this. (the only thing that kept me going was that I knew Dan and Connor, and my mom were going to be at the end). After mile 10, I got my adrenaline back and picked it up a bit and finished the race in 2hours 10 minutes. (I thought it was 2 hours 9 min but I miscalculated) I was still happy though because I beat my last time by 5 minutes YAY!!! And as crazy as it may sound I can't wait to do another. A huge thanks to my wonderful hubby who was there at the end but also watched Connor so I could train. Connor was a perfect angel the whole time.. Here are some pictures.

Connor decided to take a little nap

About 500 ft from the finish line.
